LINA is the old weathered chair you want to sink into with a cup of herbal tea after a long day.
Just as she is the wind and rain outside that soothes you as it connects with the tin roof. LINA is the place you go to be soothed as well as surprised. Never knowing what may come next, LINA is the face of the ephemeral, forever changing and constantly evolving reality that surrounds you. Not bound by genre, medium, place or space – LINA attempts to move fluidly between this plane and the cosmic beyond.

Lina is the latest project from Melbourne/Naarm based artist Catalina Richardson that gently guides listeners down an atmospheric, immersive musical path. A winding road of melodies and ambient drones that draw inspiration from her various backyards. Whether it’s by the seaside, nestled amongst the rolling hills and forests of the Otways (Gadubanud Country), or in her share-house in the Northside of the city; Lina feels called to find calm wherever she lands.

Balconys (aka Angus Crook) co-produces and has played a part in writing alongside Lina; the two have spent the better parts of 2021 creating in the scenery of a bungalow overlooking Wye River or sharing music between the blue light screens. The two ambient enthusiasts have crafted sonic landscapes that desire to remove you from the chaos of everything for a little while; a body of work that might serve as a backing track for slow days by the sea.

With influences ranging from The Sweet Enoughs, Suzanne Kraft and Ryuchi Sakamoto, LINA is an 8 track ethereal journey that travels along riverbeds and soothing melodic shorelines; sculpted by soft rumbles, gentle drones, textural guitars and serene intuitive layers of humming.
